Licensing Regulations: If you are interested in becoming a licensed child care provider, you will want to contact the Regional Department of Public Welfare (DPW) office at 1-800-346-2929. They will tell you what you will need to become a licensed child care provider. In the meantime, you may want to look at what is expected of you as a provider from the parent's perspective. The following link, Child Care Is Everybody's Business, describes the requirements of becoming a provider in detail.

For Unregulated Providers: If you are not licensed or registered with the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare (DPW) and are providing child care, you are considered unregulated (not licensed). The following will be necessary: FBI fingerpriting, Criminal Abuse Clearance and mandatory twelve hours of training every two years. These clearances will be necessary to receive "subsidized child care" children. Get them now!
