Licensing Regulations

If you are interested in becoming a licensed child care provider, you will want to contact the Regional Department of Public Welfare (DPW) office at 1-800-346-2929. They will tell you what you will need to become a licensed child care provider.  In the meantime, you may want to look at what is expected of you as a provider from the parent's perspective. The following link, Child Care Is Everybody's Business, describes the requirements of becoming a provider in detail.

For Unregulated Providers

If you are not licensed or registered with the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare (DPW) and are providing child care, you are considered unregulated (not licensed). The following will be necessary:  FBI fingerpriting, Criminal Abuse Clearance and mandatory twelve hours of training every two years. These clearances will be necessary to receive "subsidized child care" children. Get them now!

Office Hours:
